Why I Care…For the First Time

So I’m sitting here right now thinking of a million things I want to say, so let me start by prefacing everything with this: I’ll be 30 in July, and I’ve never even considered voting Democrat in my entire life. Now I used to say I was a Republican, which was true if you only count the taxes part, so I guess I’ll lump myself in with the rest of the cafeteria politicos and say I was a fiscal conservative (i.e. I hate taxes).
It was about 6 months ago when the taxes just didn’t matter anymore.
I saw this guy..great motivator, admitted flaws, intelligent, and a great smile. I couldn’t believe he was running for president. Guys like this don’t run for president, they sit in the Senate for 40 years and enjoy the long lunches. So I listened, and I read, and I followed, and I agreed.I have never cared about anything regarding politics in my entire life. I never knew the term delegate, or what a caucus was, or why Iowa and New Hampshire suddenly became important for a week. Now I cared. I didn’t even know why, but I did. So I had to figure this out. Why I cared…for the first time.
