Applauding With Tears

I am a 51 year old woman who has been a lifelong Democrat. I have never in my lifetime been as moved by a candidate as I have been by Obama. I first saw him when he spoke at the 2004 convention and I was standing in front of my television applauding this man with tears running down my face. At that time I was so ate up with politics that I swore I was done voting, but he totally changed my way of thinking.

I believe that Sen. Obama embodies what we are taught from childhood that this country is supposed to be about. Somewhere along the line with the politics as usual I lost my faith in the process and thought nothing would ever again renew that faith, but along came Sen. Obama and he once again gave me hope of a brighter future for this country. Hillary is the politics of old, and with her in office, nothing would ever change, and would only get worse and turn off more people like me to the political process.

Sen. Obama still brings tears to my eyes whenever I hear him speak of the promise of this country, and I am prepared to do anything that I can to see this great man of vision and hope as our next President.

Julie, I think that when Barack speaks he makes one feel as if he is talking to you. When you said how you stood in front of the tv clapping, I thought that is so true he makes you feel so inspired one wants to run out and do something to win this thing…

Julie, I remember when I saw him deliver that speech. I too rose to my feet because of his inspiring words. On that day, after that speech I made the statement to my family and friends that he would be president one day. His vision and passion shines like a beacon of light that everyone wants to get close to, because where it leads us to is a place of truth, peace and positive change for our country, the world and the future.

    Julie,
I’m from Missouri, too, and I could have written what you did, except that you are more eloquent.
Barack has changed everything. I am so excited! Remember voting eight years ago, trying to decide between Al Gore and George Bush before they both changed right before our eyes? I actually told my Republican husband that I’d vote for Bush if my husband took me out and bought me a drink at the end of a long day after we voted. He did, and I did, and I am eternally ashamed. I didn’t think it mattered. :-(
Maybe, just maybe, everything’s going to be okay!
