Voting My Conscience

I’m an 83-year old veteran of WW2. I served my country proudly–and willingly–in the war in Europe. After the war, I served my country again, as a tech rep for the U.S. Navy. I am retired now, but I was fortunate enough to have received an excellent education, thanks to FDR and the 1944 GI Bill.

Ask your Congressman today: Where is the GI Bill, for our soldiers in Iraq, in Afghanistan, and all points in between. IF your Congressperson is honest, they’ll say, “Well, George didn’t think it was important!”

Barack Obama thought it was. Barack Obama voted for the Iraq veterans GI Bill.

I have voted in every election since 1946. I have voted my conscience, regardless of party affiliation. Some of my choices were wrong, but I voted for the person I thought best.

Barack Obama is the man that I think is best suited to lead our country–MY country–to a new level of decency, integrity, and honor.

    Richard,

What I love about your post is this line:

“I have voted my conscience, regardless of party affiliation. Some of my choices were wrong, but I voted for the person I thought best.”

I think part of the changing power of Barack Obama is that this is something that we ALL should be unafraid to say, even if we don’t have the courage of a WW II veteran. :-) If we all believe in the goodness and the power of the American people, then by always encouraging people to vote their conscience and in what they really believe (rather than on the issues that the MSM tells them to believe in), even if our candidate loses, we all win.

Thanks for your message and for your sacrifice. It may be a little corny, but every Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day I give a little prayer of thanks for the those who died in courageous service to our country. Even though there are battles that, in retrospect, should not have been fought, the courage of our servicemen should always (and IS always) remembered and respected.

    God bless and thanks.
